For the month of June, paintings created by 23 local youth artists celebrating the beauty of nature and enjoying the outdoors will be on display at Countryside Gallery in historic Newtown.

The art show is titled "Happy Trees" as a fun nod to the late landscape painter Bob Ross. The students, whose ages range from 10-17, are using their artistic talent to raise awareness about protecting our environment. Next to each of their paintings is a tip on how we can all help by making changes in our daily lives. When we pollute our environment, we ultimately pollute ourselves. With traces of chemicals, metals, plastics, and PFAS showing up in human cells, the choices we make now are more important than ever.
In addition to creating each of their own works of art, the students are working together to complete one collaborative painting which will be sold to the highest bidder as a fundraiser. Their 12" x 16" acrylic painting is titled Springtime at Tyler Park. Bidding entry forms for the silent auction of this piece will be available at the art show.
If you would like to place a bid on Springtime at Tyler Park but cannot get to the gallery for a bidding form, bids can also be made via email at youthartsilentauctionbids@aol.com.

Bidding ends June 30th 2023 and the highest bidder will be contacted shortly after. Greeting cards featuring each of the student's individual paintings will be on sale for $3.00 each. 100% of proceeds from the note card sale and silent auction piece will be donated to The Arbor Day Foundation.

Participating artists: Amelia Binkley, Mia Brady, Allison Cirillo, Victoria Cirillo, Taylor Dahms, Lily Esposito, Paarth Kunwar, Andrew Loudon, Tim Loudon, Darcy McCullough, Evangeline McGarry, William McNamara, Amelia Mlynarczyk, Ava Peterson, Jane Reifsneider, Chris Riether, Elizabeth Rubenstein, Violet Schroeher, Anna Sherwin, Addy Smith, Kate Smith, Ian Stone, and Sean Williams.
The community is invited to view the students' paintings on display from June 3rd through June 29th. Admission is free and smiles are guaranteed, so please come out and support our aspiring youth artists and their cause. While you are there, have your photo taken with Bob Ross!

*ART FOR A CAUSE: Each spring we have an "Art for A Cause" themed art show held at Countryside Gallery in historic Newtown in early June. Art can do more than decorate! Art can educate, influence and inspire. I encourage students to use art to raise awareness and support the causes that they are passionate about in a positive and proactive way. The students suggest causes that are important to them and then vote on the cause that will be the theme of our art show each year.
